WHAT

The MTB Downtown of Marisquiño is one of the favorite events for spectators of the event where every year thousands of action sports fans gather. The mountain bikes leave their natural environment to adapt to the city, swapping dirt for asphalt, and stones for curbs. Various natural and artificial obstacles make up a unique circuit in the world.

WHERE

In 2022, a new route was inaugurated, an incredible Mountain Bike descent through the narrow and steep streets of the old town of the city of Vigo that crossed the backbone of the city. With the start at the highest point of the urban center, a location chosen by the first Celtic settlements to lay the foundations of the city, and with the finish line, as a great novelty for this 25th anniversary, at the A Laxe Leisure Center.

Every year we take a step further and improve the modules so that the riders go down faster and leave us even more amazed. In 2025 some slow and narrow sectors from the old layout will be removed to gain fluidity and speed, and a passage through the spectacular walkway that connects the Old Town with A Laxe.

If 2024 was brutal, 2025 will be epic. The streets of the most emblematic Vigo will once again feel the adrenaline of the bikes.

HOW

There are two unique competition categories established, men and women, regardless of the category of their license, as long as it is cadet or higher. There are 4 Warm-Up runs, followed by a qualifying run in which cyclists go down one by one with the intention of stopping the clock in the shortest time possible, establishing the starting order (the best time goes last). Ultimately, the final is contested. Whoever gets down in the least amount of time in this round wins.  

Awards

When

The entire descent competition takes place in one day. The MTB DOWNTOWN returns to be the main event of Saturday, August 9. Starting early in the morning, the warm-up runs will commence. In the afternoon, early on, the qualifying round will take place. And after a break, the great final will conclude a day filled with adrenaline and speed.

The schedule may be subject to changes due to weather conditions or other force majeure factors.

MINI DH

This 2025, the MTB Downtown de O Marisquiño takes a step further and opens up to new generations with the incorporation of the Mini DH – Urbano, a competition designed for young cyclists who are starting out in the world of downhill.

It will be an individual time trial adapted to their level, in a controlled and safe environment, but with all the atmosphere and excitement of a major competition. The circuit will take place in the vicinity of the Centro de Ocio A Laxe, the new finish line for the absolute Downtown, and will transform this space into a true meeting point for families, riders, and fans.

The categories are divided by age and gender, both male and female: Benjamín (born between 2025 and 2019), Promesa (2018 – 2017), Principiante (2016 – 2015), and Alevín (2014 – 2013).
